Bill Greenwood - President & CEO
A founder of Windswept, Bill Greenwood has wide-ranging experience in both investment banking and business management. Between 1968 and 1986, he served in various senior positions at Smith Barney, Foster & Marshall, and Dain Bosworth, all NYSE member firms. He helped raise capital for a broad range of Northwest companies and brought to a successful conclusion the merger or acquisition of many others. He has served on the board of directors of both public and private companies, including Advanced Input Devices, Flow International, Foster & Marshall, Skyland Scientific Services, Port Townsend Paper and Harris Private Bank. Advanced Input, Foster & Marshall and Skyland were all acquired by NYSE-listed companies.
From 1986 through 1992, Mr. Greenwood was Chairman, President and CEO of Spider Staging Corporation, a Seattle-based manufacturer of powered scaffolding equipment with 250 employees and 16 branch offices in North America serving a world-wide customer base. Under his direction, Spider grew rapidly, became the leader in its industry, and was acquired by Flow International in October of 1992.
Mr. Greenwood earned a BA degree from Yale University and an MBA with honors from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University.
Tom McDowell - Managing Director
A founder of Windswept, Tom McDowell’s background embraces financial and operating management, as well as a 14-year career in investment banking. He has appraised many companies in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail and distribution, and has led or played a major role in every Windswept transaction.
Following auditing and consulting with Arthur Young & Co., Mr. McDowell served for eight years in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, becoming Manager of Financial Reporting at 20th Century Fox and then Assistant Controller at Orion Television. Shortly following a move to Seattle in the early 90’s he entered the investment banking industry.
Mr. McDowell is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Mary Cortez - Director of Research
Mary Cortez has extensive experience in research analysis and office administration. Ms. Cortez has been in the investment banking industry for the past 5 years, joining Windswept in 2005. Her strong research and analytical abilities in developing industry reports, valuation research and target acquirer lists are used in marketing Windswept’s clients. Over the past several years, Ms. Cortez has played an integral role in all of Windswept’s assignments.
Ms. Cortez holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Seattle Central Community College.
